This mini-workshop is for K-12 music educators of all disciplines who understand why equity and cultural responsiveness matter and are ready to move past theory to implementation.

In this one-hour mini-workshop we will:

• Explore why teaching “the notes on the page” is not enough to engage all learners
• Examine why traditional engagement strategies don’t work for all of our young musicians
• Discuss how implementing culturally responsive curriculum design will help you attract, engage, and retain more students in your music program
